PRIVATE HOUSE 2010

For this private villa, XDGA looks to the often farcical and contradictory nature of the family house. The domestic vision of unity and order is frequently programmatically far more nuanced and chaotic. Here, the stable appearance of the exterior of the villa belies an interior composed almost entirely of moveable walls of varying solidity and translucency in an endless state of flux. Rooms can be manipulated, extended or dissolved completely assuming and accumulating new roles, new objects and new conditions. This domestic theatre plays out along one entirely glazed wall towards a tranquil and private wooded audience.
